I've heard a lot of voices recently predicting armed violence in the US when the national election results become official.
Without the president weighing in with an appeal for restraint on the part of his followers, and unless he encourages them to accept the integrity of an election state officials of both parties have affirmed, it may well be that armed militias could form that would cause mayhem and bloodshed.
This would not be a "war between the states" of the kind fought over 150 years ago, but rather armed conflicts in communities within the states, with Trump supporters in local confrontations with groups defending Biden's election.
If there was ever a time for peacemakers of all political and faith persuasions to pray and work for peace, now is the time.
Rather than taking up arms, let's take up the cross instead, dying to any desire to defend ourselves or "our side" in ways that limit our truly loving every neighbor as ourselves. And let's affirm the passion of those with whom we disagree and join them in working together for the common good.

...the American landscape is littered with war memorials, but few if any peace memorials. What does this tell us about our country?
Great point, Tom. War must be seen as being more profitable, even though it is the most costly enterprise imaginable.
