Writer Esther Gillette eloquently describes Christmas as
A
candle
with haloed ray
quietly giving
itself away
Christmas is, indeed, a light that keeps on shining, a gift that keeps on giving, as Howard Thurman has written:
When the song of the angels is stilled
When the star in the sky is gone
When the kings and princes are home
When the shepherds are back with their flocks
The work of Christmas begins;
To find the lost,
To heal the broken
To feed the hungry
To release the prisoner
To rebuild the nations
To bring peace among people everywhere.
When the star in the sky is gone
When the kings and princes are home
When the shepherds are back with their flocks
The work of Christmas begins;
To find the lost,
To heal the broken
To feed the hungry
To release the prisoner
To rebuild the nations
To bring peace among people everywhere.
May the good work of Christmas begin in each of us.

Hello - this lovely meditation, "The Work of Christmas," was written by Howard Thurman.
Thanks so much. I'll make that change in my post.
