There were two other actions at the meeting on Monday: Kai Degner was officially welcomed as a new member of the committee, and Kai's motion to allow for working subcommittees was approved. In addition, Kizner's request to have a member of the school board or other educator on John Paul's subcommittee was denied by Cuevas, but with Kai's motion, there is now the opportunity to have another working committee. The reasons Cuevas gave for not allowing public comment or questions could have been solved by allowing questions and comments to be submitted in writing. I was glad to see the public turn out, but as this meeting of the CCJB was only their 3rd meeting in the last year and a half, we are still a long way from having a truly open, representative and functional board.
